What is PCR packaging?

PCR packaging, short for post-consumer recycled packaging, is packaging that is made of PCR content. The virgin polymers used are replaced with PCR content, allowing brands to offer sustainable materials and fulfill their sustainable goals, before the product even gets to the consumer. At ePac, we offer PCR flexible packaging the form of pouches and rollstock.

Are your PCR films FDA compliant?

Yes, all of our PCR films are FDA compliant for direct food contact. Our food grade plastic pouches are ideal for food brands of all sizes.

Do your post-consumer recycled (PCR) films perform as well as your regular films?

Yes! Our PCR films are designed to perform as well as our regular films to protect your product from environmental factors, while extending shelf life.

How much of your PCR plastic packaging comes from recycled content?

Recycled content can be as high at 43.5%, depending on which specification and barrier structure.

Where do PCR packaging materials come from?

Recyclable plastics, such as milk jugs or plastic water bottles, are converted into usable resins to produce PCR films. ePac takes these films and converts them into PCR stand up pouches, lay flat pouches and rollstock.

Can you re-recycle PCR materials?

Typically, no – at least not into the same product. They can, however,  be downcycled into other items like clothing, textiles, lumber, decking, etc.

What are the PCR pouch dimensions?

We can create custom-sized PCR stand up pouches and lay flat pouches. Additionally, we can provide you with our standard sized products if you’re unsure of where to begin.

What are some of the PCR packaging features?

The majority of our PCR packaging is customizable to include any of the following:

  • High vapor barriers that block moisture, oxygen, and aroma from entering or exiting the package
  • Different hang hole options
    • Round
    • Sombrero
  • Transparent or clouded windows
  • Glossy or matte finishes
