OUR COMMITMENT

Sustainability is our priority

As an eco-friendly company, ePac is committed to creating a more sustainable world through our development of earth-friendly packaging solutions, our energy-efficient production process, and involvement in local communities.

We are continuously evolving our production processes to minimize and recycle waste, positively contributing to a circular economy.

We are committed to our involvement in the local communities surrounding all of our plants.

digital printing + it’s environmental impact

ePac was founded on the premise that emerging digital technologies would significantly disrupt the service and manufacturing models that have served the flexible packaging industry for decades. Our digital printing platform is inherently sustainable: it uses less energy, produces less waste and has a smaller carbon footprint than traditional printing technologies. With the ability to order on demand, packaging obsolescence can also be eliminated, keeping unused plastic packaging out of landfill.

environmental impact

Established in 2016, ePac is the only flexible packaging company built entirely around the HP Indigo 20000 Digital Press to provide customers with its unique advantages, including:

energy savings + emissions reduction

Our carbon-neutral HP printers ensure that the process of printing our digitally printed pouches and roll stock has a lower environmental impact than conventional printing, specifically on global warming potential and petrochemical ozone creation.

sustainable films

We offer a variety of different sustainable films, including:

  • Recyclable PE-PE films, which are suitable for Store Drop-off recycling programs.

raw materials

ePac sources raw materials to produce roll stock and plastic pouches that can be recycled or composted, including plastic films, inks, and adhesives.

sustainable inks

ePac’s digital printers use polymer-based inks, which do not contain any hazardous air pollutants (HAPs). These inks consume less energy than solvent-based or UV-curable inks used in traditional flexible packaging.

flexible packaging

Flexible packaging has many environmental advantages, including its ability to:

  • Reduce food waste due to resealability
  • Extend product shelf life
  • Provide consumer convenience
  • Require less energy and resources to produce
  • Reduce the amount of carbon emissions during transportation

waste recycling

ePac UK is collecting all waste and raw materials (films, pouches, plastics and HP ink canisters) that are being diverted from landfills and safely melted down, disposed of or repurposed Our goal is to have all of our plants adopt this capability to lessen our footprint and continue to contribute to a circular economy.

economic impact

Elimination of Plate & Set-Up Fees

Digital printing provides a handful of economical benefits to brands. ePac’s use of HP Indigo 20000 digital printers eliminate the need to produce and process plates and cylinders during the printing process, reducing the amount of energy expended during setup and production. This also allows for minimal print set-up compared to conventional printing (flex and rotogravure), which use higher volumes of ink and substrates.

Reduction in Excess Inventory

With the ability to print to demand, run multiple SKUs and place low minimum orders, we are able to drastically reduce obsolescence and costs for our customers. Customers are able to take advantage of our short turnaround times and low minimum orders to run more promotions, create limited edition packaging, and test new products in the market.

Ability to Run Multiple SKUs at Once

ePac’s digital printing capabilities allow brands to run multiple SKUs in one run. Within each run, we optimize the 30″ printing web to maximize impressions, therefore reducing waste. Without the use of plates, the costs associated with the need for multiple plates are eliminated, as well as the high-minimum order quantities required with traditional printing.

social responsibility

ePac is committed to supporting the local communities surrounding each of our domestic and international plant locations. We are actively involved in giving back by volunteering with regional organizations, partnering with educators and schools, and donating time and materials to small business owners and brands.
