Mylar Bag Amazon Ban: What This Means For The Industry & What To Expect

Because it’s critical information for our customers and potential customers, we wanted to pass along this mandate Amazon posted a few weeks back regarding their stance on mylar bags.

Here’s the official statement:

“Due to regulatory requirements, all Mylar bags that are not clear or single colored must be removed from the Amazon store by August 5, 2022. For more information on these requirements, go to Drugs & drug paraphernalia 384. If you use Fulfillment by Amazon (FBA) and have any remaining inventory of Mylar bags that are not clear or single-colored in Amazon fulfillment centers on or after August 5, 2022, these ASINs will be removed from the Amazon store. You must initiate a removal request within 30 days of receiving this notice to have your inventory sent to a location of your choice.”

This is Amazon being clear about what’s on their compliance checklist, stating,

“Products must not be primarily used for making, preparing, or using a controlled substance” – included in the list: “Mylar bags, which are not clear or single colored.”

Because we’re a custom packaging company, the Amazon news doesn’t affect ePac. We have no plans to discontinue any mylar bags and will continue to support our customers by providing them with the best quality custom packaging on the market. If they want to ban them, we’ll only continue to make ours cooler and more customizable, no matter what’s inside.
