On this National Overdose Awareness Day, we at ePac Flexible Packaging would like to help bring awareness to what has become a huge problem in the United States – Fentanyl.
For those not already aware, Fentanyl, a synthetic opioid that is 50 to 100 times more potent than Morphine, is illegally streaming into our country from China and Mexico. There are also derivatives of Fentanyl, such as Carfentanil, which is estimated to be 10,000 times more potent than Morphine.
Between 2013 and 2020 deaths attributed to synthetic opioids increased 18X. In 2020 there were 56,000 recorded deaths in the US, and this number doubled in 2021 to 108,000 – which equates to over 20 deaths every.single.day. Recent studies show that this number continues to rise in 2022.
Stories abound like that of Kevin McConville, 17 year old son of Shannon and Darren McConville in Katy, Texas. One time – one pill is all it took to kill Kevin. We are writing to you today…to help bring awareness to this incredible problem, and some of the resources that are available to help parents prevent even just one death.
We would like to request your help to pass this message along to reach as many as possible. To learn more about the scourge that is Fentanyl and to help eradicate this problem, please review the following links.
